Football club with a 111-year tradition decided to reshape itself according to the ESG principles. Being a white (or actually green) whale on the Polish sports map, it builds a competitive advantage in the sports industry.
WHAT? The underdog among the elite
An entity (football club) that in 2019 was supposed to fall to the second league, thanks to strategic management taking into account ESG principles, became a club that everyone in Poland is talking about… and became promoted to the Polish first league?
WHY? It is worth standing out
When competing with Lech Poznań, another Poznań football club which is among the leaders in the country, Warta had to reinvent itself to win the fans' hearts and the sponsors' budgets.
HOW? Good to have a plan
Warta is drawing up a Development Plan articulating what it will be like – it will operate based on defined values, including an ecological approach. The second step is to perform an environmental audit and design the club’s Eco Policy. Thus, Warta will become the only sports club in Poland with a defined ecological policy. It also creates a stadium following ecological assumptions, combining a sports facility with an eco-education centre, whose façade will breathe and be able to recover rainwater.
EPILOGUE:
Betis Sevilla invited Warta to participate in the Forever Green project, joining groups of recognised sports facilities that attach great importance to ecology. Warta is among the elite, with such clubs as Real Betis, AS Roma, and Manchester United. This is what a Champions League football group should look like!
- Learn why the right strategy, consistency and coherence are more important than large budgets.
- See for yourself that unobvious paths can lead to great goals.
- Check why it is worth taking a risk, even if everyone says this is not how it’s done in this industry.
