6 out of 10 Polish employees would be more likely to return to the office if the employer co-finance

The city mobility budget is becoming a desirable employee benefit in Polish companies, as well as the possibility of remote work, as has been shown by the Kantar study for FREE NOW, amobility Super Appn. 53% of Polish employees also admit that they would give up a company car in favor of a dedicated budget for shared rides. This means that the company car is becoming a less attractive option for employees who are ready to replace it with a more sustainable and flexible means of transport.

Among the employee benefits most often indicated as desirable by Poles, healthcare was ranked first, followed by remote work and mobility offers. Every third respondent in Poland currently uses a company car, however, fuel costs and the lack of parking spaces are indicated as the most significant nuisance for 40-60% of their owners.

When asked about the choice between a company car and a city mobility budget, 44% of respondents would choose the second option. As an advantage of this solution, 4 out of 10 indicate environmental friendliness and reduction of CO2. The idea of receiving a dedicated budget from the employer for travel by various means of shared transport on one platform is interesting for as many as 8 out of 10 Polish employees. 63% also admit that such an offer would encourage them to return to work in the office.

The changing trends in everyday travel to the office are also reflected in the McKinsey & Company report. It has been confirmed that as many as 70% of office workers are open to using micromobility, e.g. shared scooters, in daily commuting to the office. The latest FREE NOW survey has confirmed that the awareness of sustainable transport among Polish office workers is growing. As many as 67% expect employers to promote environmentally friendly transportation. FREE NOW, by developing urban mobility as an employee benefit, offers a Mobility Budget as part of an offer for a business.

We notice the changing needs of employees, which were undeniably influenced by the pandemic and the transition to hybrid work. The Mobility Budget service we are developing may become a source of employee benefits, similar to sports tickets or company cars. The employer will be able to allocate the budget to employees for private travel. It would take a form of a subscription with a limit to be used by the employee for personal needs and work commute. Through our application, the employee would use locally available services - taxis, scooters, bicycles, scooters and carsharing. This service is already being tested in some European countries, and soon we will be available to companies in Poland - says Krzysztof Urban, managing director of FREE NOW in Poland.

Similar conclusions - about the growing openness of office workers to resignation from the company car and the expectation of sustainable actions towards the employer, come from the surveys conducted among employees from other European countries in the FREE NOW survey. On the other hand, only 1 in 5 Europeans surveyed admit that their employer is taking active steps to reduce carbon emissions caused by employees' business trips.
